It has now been reported in France that Newcastle United have reached agreement to buy Ewen Jaouen.

According to Canal+ a transfer fee of €28.5m (approx £24.6m) has been agreed between United and Stade De Reims.

The much sought after young goalkeeper has had a number of clubs actively trying to buy him.

Still only 20, Ewen Jaouen has already made 60 appearances for Stade de Reims, plus another 20 across loan spells at Rodez and Dunkerque.

Canal+ report that Ewen Jaouen has agreed a four-year contract with Newcastle United.

The young keeper was reported to have visited Newcastle United a few weeks ago to have a look around the facilities etc. Then claimed to have done the same with Chelsea.

However, Newcastle United now said to have fought off competition from Chelsea and other clubs to land the 6ft 6 keeper who has played for France at all youth levels including Under 21s.

Real Madrid were also claimed to have identified him as Thibaut Courtois’ long-term successor, however, the 20-year-old reported instead to be set for a move to Tyneside.
