For the overwhelming majority of Newcastle United fans, there are three managers that stand out above the rest.
Certainly in the last half century anyway.
I am talking of course about Kevin Keegan, Sir Bobby Robson and Eddie Howe.
All three building exciting Newcastle United teams and bringing relative success and glory to the club.
Eddie Howe of course delivering that long awaited trophy, which for most fans elevated him actually higher than the other two.
Now today at Crystal Palace, Eddie Howe has the chance to reach the same Premier League milestone as Sir Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan.
Their two Newcastle United Premier League managerial records read:
Kevin Keegan: Played 162 Won 83 Drawn 36 Lost 43 (Win percentage 44.1% average points per game 1.60)
Sir Bobby Robson: Played 188 Won 83 Drawn 51 Lost 54 (Win percentage 51.2% average points per game 1.76)
For Eddie Howe with Newcastle United in the Premier League it is currently (ahead of Palace away):
Eddie Howe: Played 172 Won 82 Drawn 37 Lost 53 (Win percentage 47.7% average points per game 1.65)
As you can see, a win today at Crystal Palace would take Eddie Howe level on 83 NUFC Premier League wins with Sir Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan.
KK managed it in 26 less Premier League games than SBR.
Eddie Howe now with the chance to reach 83 PL wins in 173 matches. Plus of course the chance before the end of this season to go beyond the total number of Premier League victories that the other two managed.
