Welcome to day two of the 2026 World Cup finals.
We are aiming to bring you a daily round up of the matches to come and recent results.
There are 48 countries at these 2026 World Cup finals, the most there has ever been. The matches to take place across Mexico, Canada and the USA.
The 48 teams are divided into 12 groups of four, with the top two in each group automatically going through and the eight best performing teams who finish third in their groups.
So only 16 of the 48 countries will be knocked out after the 72 group games have all played out, with the other 32 going through to the knockout stages.
A brilliant start to the 2026 World Cup finals last night as more than 80,000 Azteca (Mexico City) Stadium to see tournament hosts Mexico beat South Africa 2-0. Great scenes as Quinones gave the hosts a 9th minute lead as Mexico dominated and Raul Jimenez scoring a second on 67 minutes. The match officials lost the plot a bit and somehow ended up sending three players off in the second half, two from South Africa and one for Mexico.
The second match of the tournament saw the other two teams in Group A meet at the less UK friendly time of 3am on Friday morning, the match in Guadalajara saw a goalless first half but then the Czech Republic taking the lead, only for South Korea to come back and win the match 2-1.
Group A sees Mexico ahead of South Korea on goal difference, both on three points. South Africa and the Czech Republic already looking set to be fighting it out for third place in the group and possible progression.
The next eight matches to be played over three days are detailed below, all kick-offs are shown as UK times and with the channel that is showing them.
