There has been an official Newcastle United injury update after the victory over Aston Villa.
An excellent United performance and win that takes them into the FA Cup fifth round.
The best possible advert for VAR that you could imagine.
The match officials making a serious of horrendous decisions, with Newcastle United the victims time after time.
Attention now turns to Wednesday and Qarabag away in the Champions League play-off round.
Eddie Howe giving this official Newcastle United injury update following the Aston Villa match.
Eddie Howe asked about Bruno Guimaraes:
“I don’t think there is any miracle cure for him.
“I think it will be a couple of months [that he will miss].
“Probably looking at the end of the international break in March for him.
“That is a blow for us…a key stage in the season for us…he is devastated but it is what it is.
“We can’t do anything about it and we just have to get him back safely [to full fitness and playing again], others players have to step up in his absence.”
The United boss also asked about Yoane Wissa, who was a surprise absentee from the matchday squad at Villa Park.
Eddie Howe: “Yoane picked up a knock in training on Friday. We don’t think it is serious but he may miss a couple of games.”
Sven Botman also a name missing from the squad that travelled to play Aston Villa.
The NUFC Head Coach explaining why.
Eddie Howe: “Sven’s feeling is back from the game against Spurs. We don’t think it is a serious injury and we certainly hope he won’t be out for any period of time. It was the right decision not to let him travel [for the Aston Villa match].”
The performance and victory at Villa Park is all the more impressive, when you consider Eddie Howe was missing eight first team squad players: Bruno, Joelinton, Krafth, Botman, Miley, Wissa, Schar and Livramento.
