Looking at these Premier League fixtures on Saturday, in this latest round of matches.
Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
This ninth round of Premier League fixtures.
Eight Premier League matches today.
Yes, your read it right, EIGHT Premier League matches on a Saturday!
Plus, five of them at the old fashioned 3pm kick-off.
The only non-Saturday matches this weekend are Liverpool v Arsenal on Sunday and Newcastle United v Everton on Monday.
As a Newcastle United fan, have a look at these Premier League fixtures on Saturday and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is most likely in terms of results.
My conclusions and predictions on the Saturday matches now coming up:
Chelsea v Man U (12.30pm)
So much money spent by these two clubs with so little return.
One of those where I think of who I most want to lose, rather than who I’d want to win.
Man U are a total mess and Chelsea very up and down. A win for Newcastle and Chelsea losing would see United above the Cockneys after this weekend, so I suppose I want Man U to win, probably. I fancy it will be a draw as Man U will be desperate not to lose. Failing to win would make it nine games in a row without a victory in all competitions for Man U.
The rat Bruno Fernandes restored to the Man U team…
Bournemouth v Leeds (3pm)
Bournemouth are back on the up and Leeds tend to play very negative.
Newcastle winning and Leeds failing to win would see NUFC above them.
I think Bournemouth will win this one comfortably.
Brentford v Forest (3pm)
A very similar scenario, a win for Newcastle would see them go above Brentford if the Bees don’t win here.
I am going for the draw in this one.
Coventry v Sunderland (3pm)
It is 19th plays 20th.
If Coventry win they go four points above the Mackems, my money is going on that outcome.
Hull v Ipswich (3pm)
This pair are confounding the ‘experts’ so far, 10 points each and in mid-table after eight matches.
It would feel huge for either club to be on 13 points after nine EPL matches but I fancy they will be both on 11 points after a draw today.
Man City v Brighton (3pm)
Top plays third and this is a repeat of when the two teams met in midweek.
Brighton could and should have won that one but ended up losing on penalties.
The Seagulls are dangerous, especially when they are after your fish and chips, but I think Man City will step up and ensure they remain top of the table.
Spurs v Palace (5.30pm)
Tottenham have improved to a degree but still don’t look convincing to me.
Whilst their manager is getting a lot of stick, Palace in their last eight matches in all competitions have won four, drawn one and lost three. Pierre Sage guided them to a confidence boosting clean sheet and win at Fulham in midweek in the cup. The players showing they are still playing for him and I think they might frustrate Spurs as well, come away with at least a draw.
Villa v Fulham (8pm)
Villa were hammered 3-0 by Bournemouth in midweek and possibly sacrificed that cup game.
Fulham should have won against Palace in midweek but failed to turn chances into goals. They have won both of their last two league matches 1-0 and can be a tricky side to face. Everyone will be thinking Villa are nailed on but I think Fulham could pull off a surprise. I am going for an away win!
