“We are under no illusions this is a tough game; they are a very good team. They are on a great run in the Premier League. They’ve got clear strengths. We know what we need to do to win the game.”

Eddie Howe on playing at St James’ Park:

“Our home form has got away from us in recent weeks, and we are determined to get that back, that is our priority. The benefits of playing at home are huge for us, the atmosphere is great. We need to tap into that; we need to do the key things well.”

“It is still possible, we need those runs of wins, we haven’t done that this season. We are in a difficult period; we need to come out of that. We can still have a successful end to the season.”

Eddie Howe reflecting on the past week:

“We need that feeling back, it has been too long, we are desperate to win, desperate to play well. We have had a mixture of feelings this week. A disappointing result at Crystal Palace, there has not been many smiling faces around the training ground this week, but the feeling is one of steely determination to put it right.”

Eddie Howe on Bruno Guimaraes

“There is a chance he can be fit for the weekend. We have seen him in training, he is pushing hard to be involved, he is desperate to help the team, desperate to be involved. So, there is a possibility, I will make a decision off the back of training today.”
