Eddie Howe watched on as Newcastle United lost at Arsenal.
A ninth minute long range effort from Eze proving to be the difference between the two teams.
Apart from the goal though, Newcastle at least matched the Gunners.
If Yoane Wissa had scored instead of volleying over the bar from Big Nick’s sumptuous chipped pass, nobody would have argue that NUFC hadn’t earned a point
Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Match of the Day after the 1-0 loss: “We feel today was a big step forward in terms of our performance. It was much better from a defensive performance.”
Arsenal moved back top of the table with this narrow victory.
Eddie Howe left frustrated…:“To lose in the way we did was disappointing. We had a few chances and that was pleasing. We were much better with the ball and we are going to be with Bruno’s return. We are frustrated to lose the game and the disappointing run continues which is something we want to stop.”
This was a fourth Premier League loss in a row but hopefully signs of better to come in the final four matches.
Eddie Howe believing this can be the case: “Performances always give you hope if they are heading in the right direction. Our confidence and belief has been missing but I think today will have turned the corner. Easy to say but now we need to deliver.”
The Newcastle United Head Coach asked if every game is a final until the end of the season?
Eddie Howe replying: “We’re working as hard as we can to get results that justify the club we are at.”
