An ‘Exclusive’ from The Mail has now reported that agents representing Bruno Guimaraes have held talks with Arsenal.
The report on Thursday going on to say that Newcastle United are now expecting an official approach from the Gunners.
The Mail report that their information is that: ‘…representatives in the UK are gauging the market for the Brazil international.’
They add that: ‘Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his midfield ahead of the club’s title defence and they have identified Guimaraes, currently on duty at the World Cup, as one of their targets. The 28-year-old is one of a handful of options Arsenal are monitoring as they consider whether to submit a formal offer.’
As with all media reporting regarding alleged potential transfers, you make your choice on what you believe, or don’t believe…
What we do know for sure is that Bruno Guimaraes is reminding everybody of just how brilliant he is out at the World Cup, the Newcastle United captain already has three assists in three matches for Brazil.
What we also know for sure is that Bruno Guimaraes has the quality to play for any team in the world.
For Newcastle United he is, in my opinion, priceless and irreplaceable.
The Mail going on to say: ‘‘Bruno Guimaraes has not indicated any desire to leave Newcastle, but there is an awareness that his name is being discussed elsewhere.’
My gut feeling is that Bruno Guimaraes will still be playing for Newcastle United next season.
However, as we know, we can never say never when it comes to anything in football.
The talk is of Elliot Anderson set to break the Premier League transfer record, the biggest ever fee paid by a PL club, if/when he signs for Manchester City. I know he is older but Bruno Guimaraes is a far better player than Anderson, so what would his market value be?
Of course for Newcastle United and their fans, Bruno Guimaraes is priceless, as I said earlier. He is our best player, our captain, he is the heartbeat of the team.
