A huge moment for Newcastle United loan star Sean Neave, as the Geordie teenager is set to start his first ever competitive game in senior football.
Wolves take on Burnley in the Championship on Friday night at Turf Moor and the Geordie teenager will lead the line for the visitors.
Sean Neave has played just 18 minutes across four substitute appearances in the Championship this season as he builds up his experience and confidence.
Now Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto has revealed that his moment has come.
Opportunity is what it is all about for young players and so often it is injury that presents these chances.
Wolves are having a bit of an early season injury crisis and amongst those ruled out are their two senior strikers.
Raul Jimenez needs surgery on a knee injury and will be obviously missing for some time, whilst Newcastle United fan and former NUFC striker Adam Armstrong has an issue with his back.
Cesar Peixoto revealing that Sean Neave is set to get his chance tonight: “Yes, he is the player we have in this position. He is a [young] player who is not ready to play a lot of minutes and I have to be clear about that, but because he came as the third option, we have Raul, we have Adam, two experienced players. We bring young players to grow up and play some minutes in some games, football is like that. Raul is injured, Adam has a problem in his back, so it is the moment for Sean.”
The Wolves Head Coach going on to say: “Sean has to show character, show his quality, try to work for the team and try to do his best. We have confidence in him. I think he needs more time to stay ready for this kind of pressure but he has the team to back him. He has my confidence and for sure he is going to fight to do his best.”
Burnley started the season woefully with only three points from seven Championship games but have picked up five points in their last three.
Wolves on the other hand had lost only one of their first seven and picked up 14 points but then have lost their last two in the league.
Sean Neave is set to start in the same team as Kieran Trippier tonight and the Wolves captain will use all his experience to help the 19-year-old, knowing him well from their time together at Newcastle United.
Cesar Peixoto stating: “I think Sean needs more time…but we talk, the teammates like him, the way he trains, his personality is important for us also. I know he’s not going to be perfect for this game, for sure. It’s not the same if you have Raul or Adam. But we believe in him. We have to help him to improve and to fight and to try to do his best in the moment.”
Best of luck to Sean Neave tonight ahead of his first senior start. He is a really exciting talent and now a chance to make an early name for himself, with a first team chance.
