Excellent news from Rotterdam as the young Newcastle United stars have defeated PSG.
The Orange Veins Cup is organised in conjunction with top tier Dutch side Excelsior Rotterdam.
This weekend the Newcastle United Under 15s amongst the top clubs represented.
Four group matches saw NUFC win two and draw two, finishing top of their group and progressing to the semi-finals.
The Newcastle United Under 15s went 1-0 down in their semi-final before bouncing back to win 3-1 against Borussia Monchengladbach, with two goals from Charlie Robinson and one from Jack Dawson.
United then going a goal up against PSG in the final with Muawiya Ghanem putting Newcastle ahead, the exciting prospect picked up from West Brom and showing great progress with NUFC.
However, PSG equalised and forced a shootout, only for the young Newcastle United stars to win on penalties.
A brilliant effort to lift the Orange Veins Cup and as a bonus, England Under 15s international and exciting up and coming Newcastle youngster Charlie Robinson named Player of the Tournament.
Great times for this Newcastle United Under 15s group, as only last weekend they also won the Premier League U15 International Tournament hosted by Chelsea.
PSG were also involved in that tournament but United came out on top, winning against Chelsea, Man U and Crystal Palace.
Then defeating Manchester City in the final.
Excellent news to see things going well in the younger age groups.
It will of course take time but it is so refreshing after a decade and a half of Mike Ashley refusing to allow any serious investment in the future of Newcastle United
Steve Harper summing up that achievement by the Newcastle United Under 15s last weekend: “The boys gave absolutely everything in every minute of every game. An enormously proud day for everyone connected to the Academy and football club. The staff and players did everyone proud. They were magnificent. What an incredible achievement from all of the players and staff involved. To emerge as deserved winners in a competition featuring many of the elite youth academies of not only the Premier League but Europe too, reflects a huge amount of effort from every department at the Academy.”
