Rob Edwards signed Kieran Trippier for Wolves on Monday 8 June.
The England defender leaving Newcastle United after an outstanding four and a half years at St James’ Park.
The official Wolves announcement late on Monday 8 June 2026: ‘Wolves’ rebuild ahead of the 150th anniversary season has begun with the capture of heralded full-back Kieran Trippier. The 35-year-old arrives on a two-year deal and becomes the first signing of the summer for Rob Edwards, as the club looks to bounce straight back to the Premier League.’
Wolves boss Rob Edwards having this to say about his signing of Kieran Trippier: “I’m so happy to bring him here. When we met, it was evident that he really wants to come to Wolves. We know what we’ve lacked this year, and we know what we need next year – experience, leadership, resilient characters and strong characters – that’s what we’re going to need in abundance, and Tripps ticks every box. From quality to experience to leadership to know how, and he also has a real hunger. He wants to help us get promoted again, and this is really something for us to achieve. He did have good options elsewhere, so for us to be able to get it over the line and get him in is a real coup. But it shows what a big club we are. We are a big draw and building on the Andre news, I don’t think we could have had a better start to the summer with what we’re trying to do.”
Then on Tuesday 9 June, Rob Edwards (pictured above) signed Raul Jimenez. The former Wolves striker returning to the club.
Head coach Rob Edwards declaring: “We’re delighted that Raul’s here and I know everyone will be very excited,” Edwards said. He’s another player with huge experience, but also knows Wolverhampton, he knows the area, knows the club, knows the DNA and the fabric of it, and knows what it means to play for Wolverhampton Wanderers. It’s going to be so much easier for me to be able to demand what I’m going to demand of the players, because he’s lived it, he knows the levels, so I’m very, very pleased. I was at the club when he was here before so was able to watch him and see what he did for this football club. Raul was a big part of our greatest times for a number of years. I know what he means to the football club and to the supporters, but this is not just an emotional signing. This is a signing because we really believe that he’s the right man to be able to help us achieve our aims, so we’re delighted to have him in.”
Now on Thursday morning, revealed that Wolves have been busy again, sacking Rob Edwards!
The very reliable John Percy of The Telegraph breaking the story: “Wolves have sacked Rob Edwards. Cesar Peixoto to be appointed as his replacement. This is utterly mad timing and so harsh as Edwards has been planning all summer for next season and was heavily instrumental in the signings of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.”
