News has now broken of Joey Barton arrested.
This reported to have happened only hours after he attended the Newcastle United v Manchester City FA Cup match.
Joey Barton (must have got lucky in the ballot…) sitting in the East Stand/Leazes corner of St James’ Park.
The former United player chatting with Newcastle United fans (see below) and posing for photos with them in the bar area under the stands and then where he was sitting to watch the game.
Now it has emerged though that within 24 hours of that St James’ Park match ending, Joey Barton was arrested at 9pm on Sunday evening on suspicion of attacking a man outside Huyton and Prescot golf club.
The Guardian reporting that: ‘Joey Barton, 43, was one of two men arrested as emergency services responded to reports a man had been seriously assaulted. The alleged victim was taken to hospital for facial and rib injuries. Merseyside police said a 50-year-old man and a 43-year-old man were being held on suspicion of section 18 wounding, a form of grievous bodily harm.’
