Summer signings Sean Steur and Ewen Jaouen got their first NUFC action on Saturday as Newcastle United won their opening pre-season friendly.

Eddie Howe fielded two completely different elevens in each half in this behind closed doors friendly at the KNOX Newcastle United training ground.

Eighteen-year-old midfielder Sean Steur played the first half as he helped United to a 2-0 lead over Darlington at the break.

Newcastle United official media reporting that Jacob Murphy crossed from the right for Joe Willock to score on 29 minutes.

Then on 35 minutes it was Will Osula scoring from the penalty spot after Willock was fouled.

Ewen Jaouen arrived in a £24m deal from Stade de Reims and the twenty-year-old goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the second half of this friendly.

A youthful eleven in that second half saw Sean Neave and Trevan Sanusi as the only Newcastle United players with any competitive first-team experience for the Magpies.

The nineteen-year-old Geordie striker Neave scoring to make the final score Newcastle United 3 Darlington 0.

Newcastle United (first half): Nick Pope, Leo Shahar, Alex Murphy, Sven Botman, Lewis Hall, Jacob Ramsey, Joe Willock, Sean Steur, Jacob Murphy, William Osula, Harvey Barnes
