Regis Le Bris has been speaking ahead of Sunderland facing Newcastle United.
The derby a 12 noon kick-off on Sunday at St James’ Park.
Having been humiliated at League One rock bottom club Port Vale in the FA Cup, plus only three Premier League wins across the last three months, Regis Le Bris under pressure.
Ahead of facing Newcastle United though, the Sunderland boss insisting: “We are happy, we are excited and we are ready to go.”
Regis Le Bris telling official club media: “It is clear what the supporters want to see. They want to see Sunderland. They want to see that fight together, this desire to show the best of the club. It is clear for the players. It will be a big game but a big opportunity and we want to see the game like that. In the North-East, the fans are important for both clubs. For us, it’s another game where we can show the willingness to be ourselves.”
With only 11 points from their last 14 Premier League matches, Sunderland now struggling.
Regis Le Bris going on to say: “It is about us and the way we want to play. Football is unpredictable in general and you always have to adapt but if your foundations are strong, you have clarity about your strengths. We will work hard. We will work as a team. The past is useful but this is a new story. We still have to play a new game with a new scenario.”
