How would rate you all of the 20 Premier League clubs so far?
How their teams have performed in the league matches up to now.
We are now into this first (lengthy!) international break of the 2026/27 season and five rounds of matches already played by each of the 20 Premier League clubs.
The Premier League season resumes on the weekend of Saturday 10 October.
A time now to reflect on what we have witnessed so far.
A lot of those in the media are evaluating how each of the 20 Premier League teams have performed.
Here’s the Talksport grades: ‘ We have made it through the first five games of the 2026/27 season and, already, there has been plenty to dissect as the table begins to take shape. And now that we have had our first impressions of this season’s 20 competing clubs, Talksport has graded each one based on how they have performed so far…
A* for Man City
A for Arsenal, Hull, Brighton, Brentford
B for Newcastle United, Leeds, Liverpool, Ipswich, Everton
C for Forest, Sunderland
D for Chelsea, Villa
E for Man U, Palace, Coventry, Bournemouth
F for Tottenham, Fulham
‘Newcastle United – Position: 9th -Grade: B
Matthias Jaissle became the Newcastle head coach just 18 days before their league opener, but will be pleased with how well has started the post-Eddie Howe reign at St. James’ Park. Victory away at Spurs and a hard-fought home win over Hull are two results that have delivered encouragement – so have the signings of Amar Dedic and Nico Gonzalez, and improved form of Yoane Wissa. The 4-1 thumping to Leeds and goal difference of zero – nine scored, nine conceded – has denied them an excellent start that followed the big sales Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes.’
I actually think the Talksport gradings and comments on Newcastle United are on the money.
A lot better than what BBC Sport came up with on Monday when doing a similar exercise, they gave ratings out of 10 for each of the 20 Premier League clubs and only gave Newcastle United 6 out of 10 for their league start to the season, the same rating as Aston Villa who have picked up only half as many points as United, also the same 6 out of 10 rating that Chelsea got and who paid out fortunes on transfer fees and wages for new additions and were under no pressure to sell first choice players unlike NUFC.
