Newcastle United have received a first official bid from Arsenal.
This happening after direct talks finally opened between the two clubs.
Arsenal having messed both Newcastle United and Bruno Guimaraes around all summer, pushing out messages via subservient media rather than making an official approach.
Mark Douglas at the i paper claiming the exclusive, he says that Newcastle United have rejected this first official Arsenal bid for Bruno Guimaraes: “Newcastle United REJECT first official Arsenal bid for Bruno Guimaraes. Arsenal have opened direct talks with Newcastle over skipper but first bid has been turned down.”
Interesting now to see what follows with Bruno Guimaraes…
Mark Douglas adding: “Understanding is that Bruno Guimaraes now in Spain. Indication he followed club-agreed plan for travel, will report to La Manga training base for assessment later today. Newcastle United skipper not up in the air, even if his future is…Let’s be realistic though: is the direction of travel that he goes to Arsenal? Feels inevitable to me (although Arsenal still need to meet Newcastle price). Player wants out, new manager – surely – needs players who are ‘all in’. Given his age profile and Jaissle rebuild it might even be the logical step if Newcastle can get a replacement. Saga needs concluding. And soon.”
Luke Edwards of The Telegraph following up with: “First bid has been rejected. Talks likely to continue. After all the noise and false reports of direct talks things are finally happening. Everything you have seen in the media the last few weeks was building to this point.”
