PSG proving the point in Champions League, if only somebody would let the English media know

I was looking forward to watching Liverpool play PSG on Tuesday night.

I wasn’t disappointed.

I expected Liverpool to be well beaten and they were, even with Alexander Isak returning to the starting eleven…

PSG winning 2-0 in Paris and the same at Anfield.

In anybody’s eyes a 4-0 aggregate thrashing is overwhelming.

Even the embarrassingly one-eyed vision of former Liverpool players couldn’t offer any excuses for this easy Champions League progress for PSG.

These have been the Champions League results across the last three seasons when PSG have played Premier League clubs.

2025/26 PSG Champions League results against English clubs:

Liverpool 0 PSG 4 (on aggregate)
Chelsea 2 PSG 8 (on aggregate)
PSG 1 Newcastle 1
PSG 5 Tottenham 3

2024/25 PSG Champions League results against English clubs:

Arsenal 1 PSG 3 (on aggregate)
Aston Villa 4 PSG 5 (on aggregate)
Liverpool 1 PSG 1 (on aggregate, PSG win 4-1 on penalties)
PSG 4 Man City 2
Arsenal 2 PSG 0

2023/24 PSG Champions League results against English clubs:

PSG 1 Newcastle 1
Newcastle 4 PSG 1

Ahead of PSG facing Liverpool in these most recent two Champions League matches, I had an article published on The Mag that pointed out how ridiculous the coverage by the English media is. They repeatedly quote how dominant PSG have been against Premier League clubs in recent years BUT refuse to credit one English club and manager that PSG and Luis Enrique have found impossible to beat.

Indeed, Newcastle United and Eddie Howe could and should have had three victories in three Champions League matches against PSG. Hammering them 4-1 at St James’ Park, then cheated out of a win in Paris by that late shocking referee/VAR penalty that gifted PSG a late equaliser. Then only in January, shocking match officials once again conspired against Newcastle United in Paris, giving the home side such a feeble penalty decision and a series of other helping hands. Eddie Howe’s team under the cosh and going behind in the opening half hour but then after that Newcastle were the better and more threatening team, who after equalising had the chances to go on and win, outplaying PSG on home turf as that game went on.

PSG got to the Champions League semi-finals in 2024 and lost to Borussia Dortmund, two clubs that had both been in Newcastle United’s four team group.

In 2025, PSG won the Champions League.

Now in 2026, PSG are into their third Champions League semi-final in a row.

Yet they still can’t beat Newcastle United. If only somebody would let the English media know…
