Burnley announced the departure of former Newcastle United midfielder Scott Parker on Thursday morning.

Parker becoming the eleventh Premier League manager to be sacked this season, so far…

Now it has been revealed who the Clarets want to replace him.

BBC Sport say their sources have told them that Burnley want Craig Bellamy ‘ but they face an uphill battle to convince him to return to Turf Moor.’

The former Newcastle United striker worked previously at Burnley under previous manager Vincent Kompany and was among the candidates to take the top job before Parker’s appointment in 2024.

BBC Sport stating: ‘Craig Bellamy is enjoying his time with Wales and is said to be relishing the opportunity of leading the nation to a home nations European Championship in 2028. He is also understood to be hold some reservations about the current make-up of the Burnley squad and how much work it may need this summer, with a number of players expected to depart.’

They go on to say that Steven Gerrard has also been heavily linked with the position but there has been no formal contact with him.

Burnley have joined Wolves as now confirmed for the drop, the Clarets have won only four of 34 Premier League games this season.
