Friday afternoon has brought an official Chelsea injury and availability update, ahead of the Newcastle United match on Saturday.

Wingers Jamie Gittens and Estevao having missed the 5-2 Champions League hammering at PSG in midweek.

Liam Rosenior giving the official update on Friday on the two players.

It is good news and bad news for the Chelsea boss, as he confirmed Jamie Gittens is back fit for the weekend clash with United, but Estevao remains unavailable.

Rosenior stating: “Jamie Gittens is back involved, which is great news, but Estevao is still a little bit further away. We want to be careful with Estevao because of the nature of his hamstring injury. The last thing that we want to do is rush him back and see the injury recurring. So, we will see what he’s like for Tuesday’s game against PSG”

Chelsea needing a miracle on Tuesday night against PSG.

With all eyes now on Saturday, what Liam Rosenior will do with his team selection against Newcastle United, which comes only three days before they will need to throw everything at the PSG match, to have any chance of clawing back that huge three goal deficit.

Eddie Howe of course has an extra day to prepare before facing Barcelona on Wednesday, plus United on level terms with Barca from the first leg.

Liam Rosenior refusing to be drawn on whether he is going to massively prioritise the PSG match over the Newcastle United one: “I don’t think too far ahead about the following game [against PSG] at this stage of the season. It is about the importance of each game, starting with the [Newcastle United] game tomorrow. My thoughts on PSG and what that looks like on Tuesday, hasn’t even entered my head…”
