Harry Redknapp has been talking about Newcastle United.
The former Spurs and West Ham manager, discussing NUFC as we are now into mid-April and into the business end of things.
Newcastle United returning after the international break.
Eddie Howe’s team hopefully refreshed and full of focus going into these final seven games of the season.
The Sunderland result was a serious blow of course, but that followed two excellent Premier League wins for Newcastle United over Man U and Chelsea.
Harry Redknapp choosing to focus on the debate surrounding Eddie Howe: “I keep reading about Eddie being under pressure and I just think it’s very harsh. I know it’s been a frustrating season but people forget what a great job he’s done.”
A vocal minority of Newcastle United fans going way over the top, when it is clear just how badly Eddie Howe was let down by the Newcastle United owners last summer. A shambles of a transfer window as early signings that Howe had said were essential, never arriving. Only one of the six eventual signings having a pre-season with their new NUFC teammates and Eddie Howe seeing the club’s owners totally mishandle the Alexander Isak situation, as well as failing to deliver the manager’s top targets.
Harry Redknapp impressed by the 3-0 home victory for the Eagles over Fiorentina on Thursday night in the first leg of their Conference League quarter-final: “Palace got the job done against Fiorentina, and in serious style. They’ll take some stopping in that competition and should be full of confidence here.”
Impossible to know what Oliver Glasner will do with his team selection here but Newcastle United hoping to take advantage of the European distratcion.
Harry Redknapp predicting a 1-1 draw today though, when speaking to BetVictor: “Newcastle United have been poor on the road of late though, this won’t be an easy trip. I can see a draw.”
I would disagree with him on that. The last three Premier League away matches have seen Newcastle United win at both Spurs and Chelsea, whilst the one in between was a very unlucky 2-1 defeat at Manchester City when United deserved at least a draw.
Harry Redknapp also picking out a certain United player in particular: “One to watch – There’s a lot of chat about the England squad this summer, but I think Lewis Hall is a must. I’m so impressed by him virtually every time I watch him.”
As Harry Redknapp indicates, Lewis Hall is an incredible talent. Playing for the club he is a lifelong fan of, we are so lucky to have him.
Here’s hoping for another huge performance today from Lewis Hall (and his teammates) and indeed all seven remaining NUFC matches, before he heads off to the World Cup finals.
