Liverpool have reached agreement with Andoni Iraola

Liverpool have now reached agreement with Andoni Iraola to become their new manager.

David Ornstein at The Athletic breaking the story, saying he is set to take over after the sacking of Arne Slot.

Ornstein says that Liverpool have verbally agreed with Andoni Iraola for him to come to Anfield.

The man from The Athletic says that the departing Bournemouth manager is expected to sign a two-year contract.

Andoni Iraola has previously favoured short-term deals throughout his management career at Cypriot side AEK Larnaca, Spanish sides Mirandes and Rayo Vallecano, as well as at Bournemouth.

A formal announcement confirming Iraola’s appointment is expected this week.

David Ornstein adds that work continues over the make-up of his backroom staff, as he wants to be accompanied by Pablo de la Torre, Tommy Elphick, Shaun Cooper and Tom Webber, all of whom were members of his coaching/backroom staff at Bournemouth.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has led the discussions and he knows Andoni Iraola well having appointed him as successor to Gary O’Neil at Bournemouth in June 2023.
