Troy Deeney has picked his best 12 performers from the weekend action.

The Premier League team of the week (and manager) that have most impressed him.

Included in his dozen choices are four from Newcastle United.

This NUFC team with a superb performance at Stamford Bridge.

However, what about the individuals who especially contributed to this excellent away win over Chelsea.

Troy Deeney on Aaron Ramsdale: “He was a huge part of why Newcastle United won against Chelsea, not just for his saves and collecting balls into the box, but for his ability to play out from the back as well.”

Totally agree, I think the England international is very much feeling the benefits of getting a run in the team. He was very unlucky as well not to pick up a clean sheet in the game against Barcelona.

Troy Deeney on Joe Willock: “I felt like this was a coming of age game for him. He was up against £200m worth of talent in Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo and he looked like the £100m pound player. Lots of energy and running, and he was really unselfish with the assist for Gordon.”

Very much like Ramsdale, Willock getting regular football has allowed him to get into a really good groove of form.

Troy Deeney on Anthony Gordon: “He keeps scoring. In a week where centre forwards weren’t great, he delivered with pace and power. Even if Fofana was chasing on a speedboat he wouldn’t have been able to catch him.”

Yes, just as Joe Willock showed the desire to sprint away from Reece James and lay on the winner, Anthony Gordon gave Wesley Fofana yards headstart but surged past the Chelsea defender to win the match for United.

Finally, Troy Deeney on Eddie Howe: “After a big game midweek against Barcelona, he could have easily taken his eye off the Premier League to make sure they were ready for the second leg away from home. Instead Newcastle put on a great performance. Howe still got to rotate and keep everyone fresh, and a win against a very good Chelsea team keeps their European hopes alive.”

Yes, a masterclass from the United boss and his players executed his plan perfectly. Despite six outfield changes from the Barcelona match, Newcastle deservedly winning at Chelsea.
