Eddie Howe has been talking about the upcoming summer 2026 transfer window.
That window set to open on 15 June, just over seven weeks before an ‘interesting’ summer transfer market properly kicks off.
At his Friday morning pre Arsenal press conference, Eddie Howe asked an interesting question about what lies ahead.
The Newcastle United Head Coach asked the following question by one of the journalists:
“Eddie, there’s clearly going to be some pretty important meetings towards the end of the season, post-season, in terms of investment and where the club goes with recruitment. To what extent do you think the way the team reacts in these next five games, what has been a difficult spell and a poor run, might influence the thoughts around you those above you, of just how big a change is needed this summer?”
Eddie Howe giving this reply:
“I think you are always doing that, you are always looking at the team and trying to make assessments and judgements for the future, I think that is natural. Whether you are in a good period or bad period. But of course, if the team is not performing, then potentially there may be bigger changes in the summer than maybe previously first thought.”
The Newcastle United boss then adding:
“I think you have to react to what you see and that goes on a weekly basis, a daily basis, behind the scenes. In terms of attitude, commitment to the team…and I think the players would expect that, I think they understand the role and the job they are in. It is a high demand high pressure role where you are constantly judged and people are making assessments over your future. So I think there is a responsibility in every moment to try to be at your best. That responsibility falls on me as well, to make sure that I am delivering the best I can for the players, for the staff, to create an environment that we can win in. So it goes with the territory and the players understand it.”
