A huge summer ahead for Newcastle United, on and off the pitch.
With now an update made public on the club’s summer plans.
The Newcastle United squad travelled to South Korea and Japan in summer 2025 ahead of the 2025/26 season.
However, it has been decided to stay closer to home this time.
The Mail revealing: ‘The decision to stay within Europe rather than a fourth straight summer of long-haul tours has been made with football preparations in mind. The benefit of a commercially-driven trip this time around was not deemed as lucrative as previous years, especially in a post World Cup environment with star players missing and audiences perhaps suffering from football fatigue.’
They report that Newcastle United considered options in the United States, Austria and Portugal.
However, The Mail say that the final decision has been made to be based at the La Manga Club in Murcia, Spain this pre-season.
Part of the stay will see Newcastle United play at least one friendly, with a match at Valencia having been discussed as a possibility according to the report.
The Mail going on to detail: ‘With eight FIFA-standard grass pitches, a mini stadium, as well as golf courses, tennis, padel and spa facilities, the destination has long since been a favourite of elite football clubs. Eddie Howe and Bournemouth used La Manga in 2018, while Newcastle trained there in 2016.’
