The breaking news in France is that Aladji Bamba is going to sign for Newcastle United.
A media exclusive from RMC Sport reporting the imminent transfer.
Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport says that agreement has been reached between Monaco and Newcastle United.
Hawkins says that a deal worth just over €40m (£34.2m) has been agreed and this includes ‘bonuses’ (future add-ons I take it).
The French journalist says that the 20-year-old defensive midfielder has now been given permission to travel to Tyneside to undergo his medical and sign a long-term contract with Newcastle United.
Aladji Bamba only turned 20 on 14 July and had his breakthrough season in 2025/26 just after turning 19. He made 23 appearances for Monaco, 18 in Ligue 1 and five in the Champions League. Monaco ended up seventh in the league and reached the last 16 of the Champions League.
Aladji Bamba is one of the nominees for the Golden Boy award, which honours the best Under 21 player in Europe.
Bamba has played through the various youth levels with France, currently Under 20s.
