Pierre Sage is finding it tough in the Premier League with Crystal Palace as they lost 2-0 to Newcastle United.
A fifth league defeat of the season in the opening eight Premier League games and the former Lens boss hearing the few remaining fans inside Selhurst Park booing at the final whistle.
Newcastle United deserved winners as they blew Palace away early in the second half.
A dour first half battle transformed as United quickly took the game away from Palace after the break.
Osula and Barnes on the score sheet.
The result leaves Crystal Palace 17th in the table, one position and one point above the relegation zone.
Pierre Sage when asked about the fan reaction: “The boos are normal because we didn’t get the result, this noise is the consequence of the team’s result and at the moment we don’t have what we expect. We are just really focused on solutions, how to be better, how to create the conditions to compete, we will continue our work. It is normal that people lose patience when you lose because everybody wants to win, today that was not the case.”
Pierre Sage on whether he has the backing of the club hierarchy: “I don’t have to convince the people around the club…I just have to convince the players to do their best to compete and to continue to improve. After that, the decision is for the chairman, for the owners, this kind of person. For me, the noise around the team, the noise around the club, it is only noise.”
