Jeff Stelling has been reviewing the 2025/26 Premier League season.
The Hartlepool fan and broadcasting legend looking at who has impressed across the past nine months.
Jeff Stelling asked which player has stood out the most as a future Premier League star.
The media legend selecting a Newcastle United player.
Jeff Stelling telling Talksport: “I’m going to go for a man who was overlooked for quite a long time at the club he’s at, couldn’t get a start, they brought in big-money signing after big-money signing. I’m going to go for Will Osula at Newcastle United. He’s quick, he’s got five goals in his last seven, he’s only 22, and I think he can go on to even better things.”
Not a load of positives across this last Premier League season for Newcastle United but certainly in recent months William Osula stepping up.
The brace against the Hammers in the final home match made it five goals in the last six Premier League matches for William Osula.
Whilst in all competitions this season, scoring nine in total, seven in the Premier League and two in the Carabao Cup.
Injury issues have impacted William Osula this season, an ankle problem that in the end needed complete rest.
It is a case of William Osula now finally getting a run in the team and he has scored six goals in his last nine Premier League matches, starting seven of the nine games. The big question now is whether he can sustain that goalscoring form over a longer period of time?
Eddie Howe and his staff have got the now 22-year-old to this point and I think one of the massive positives is that he still looks a raw talent in many ways, with the potential of far more to come. He has still only started 17 Premier League matches in his entire career, so I suppose it would be far far more surprising if he was already looking the finished product.
William Osula has for sure suggested he has real potential. Just a case of how far his raw pace and talent is now going to take him at Newcastle United?
