Points make prizes…

The end of the Premier League season fast approaching for Newcastle United.

Just the three matches left to play.

The Premier League season set to end on Sunday 24 May.

Newcastle United still with Nottingham Forest (Away), West Ham United (Home) and Fulham (Away) left to play.

Now let’s have a look at where the Newcastle United points have come from this season.

I like doing this as it makes me think “we are better than them” or “are we really not good enough to get something off that lot.”

Here are the other 19 Premier League teams and the points we have gained so far from each of them, with those three matches still to play:

6 Burnley
4 Chelsea, Leeds, Tottenham, Wolves
3 Man City, Man U, Brighton, Everton, Palace, Fulham (away match still to play), Forest (away match still to play)
1 Aston Villa, Bournemouth
0 Arsenal, LiVARpool, Brentford, Mackems, West Ham (home match still to play)

Quite a few surprises in there.

The Mackems and Brentford giving us zero points.

Just the one maximum so far.

And to think if we’d won home games against teams we often do well against at St James’ Park, such as Brentford, Villa, Everton and Spurs, then we’d have been right up there again.

Hopefully next season we sort out a couple of those zero returns, especially from our friends down the road.
