Nick Woltemade not hearing what he wanted to from Jurgen Klopp.

A 24-man Germany squad named on Thursday and Malick Thiaw included.

However, no Nick Woltemade making the cut.

The last international break lasted three weeks and four matches, Jurgen Klopp called up 44 players in total.

Needing to name 20 less than that figure, the Germany boss omitting the Newcastle United striker currently on loan with Juventus.

Jurgen Klopp after naming his Germany squad for the November internationals: “After having a 44-man roster in September, it was difficult to make these choices, though in a positive sense, that is actually good news, as more players deserved to be included…The more quality you have at your disposal, the more challenging, in a good way, it is to make the decisions you have to make.”

Nick Woltemade wasn’t alone in getting the devastating news, as Karim Adeyemi, Nadiem Amiri and David Raum were among the others left out of the squad.

When you check out the reality of the situation though, maybe it shouldn’t have been a shock.

Nick Woltemade has had very limited opportunities with Juventus in Serie A. Only cameos off the bench until starting two of their last three league games. Big Nick with no goals in Serie A yet but he has scored in all three of Juventus’ Europa League matches this season.

Big Nick has lost out to Niclas Fuellkrug when Jurgen Klopp named this squad.

The 33-year-old returned to Werder Bremen in the summer after a shocking time at West Ham, Fuellkrug has scored 12 goals in 10 appearances in all competitions this season.

Jurgen Klopp commenting on the veteran striker: “He played quite a few games and he has absolutely been performing. He has scored all types of goals and has had an unbelievable influence on Werder Bremen, not only through his goals but the way in which he has played. It was a pretty easy nomination to make and it was a pleasure to let him know he was in.”

Germany face Serbia in Belgrade on November 13 and host the Netherlands in Berlin three days later.

The November 2026 Germany squad:

Goalkeepers: Jonas Urbig, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Alexander Nübel

Defence: Waldemar Anton, Nathaniel Brown, Finn Jeltsch, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jonathan Tah, Malick Thiaw, Philipp Treu

Midfield: Tom Bischof, Said El Mala, Bajan Gruda, Lennart Karl, Joshua Kimmich, Wael Mohya, Felix Nmecha, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Derry Scherhant, Florian Wirtz

Strikers: Younes Ebnoutalib, Niclas Füllkrug, Kai Havertz

Interesting to see that Jurgen Klopp kept faith with Malick Thiaw despite the United defender getting dropped by Matthias Jaissle for recent Newcastle matches.
