Harry Kane putting a huge smile on the face of Alan Shearer.
The current England captain with a huge announcement.
Harry Kane on Thursday morning committing long-term to Bayern Munich.
The 33-year-old goal machine signing a new deal with the Bundesliga reigning champions that takes him up to summer 2029.
By the time the 2029-30 season kicks off, Harry Kane will be aged 36.
Never say never but…this surely means he is never going to catch Alan Shearer.
Alan Shearer the record Premier League goalscorer and Harry Kane the only serious threat in the foreseeable, ‘only’ the 47 goals behind the 260 goals total that the United (and Blackburn and Southampton) legend had scored in the Premier League era.
With the Ballon d’or holder showing arguably his best ever form, a return to the Premier League could have potentially seen him score 47+ more goals in the English top tier.
However, he has signed his career over to Bayern Munich and Alan Shearer won’t be complaining.
Alan Shearer currently without equal in the Premier League era, for a long time to come I think.

As you can see, the top 21 Premier League goalscorers includes 15 who have already retired.
There really is only one Alan Shearer and the stats are a bit false anyway, because whilst Shearer is still 47 goals ahead of Harry Kane, it is effectively really 70, as 23 top tier goals that Shearer scored before the rebranding of the English top league, don’t count as ‘Premier League’ goals when it comes to the PL record.
Erling Haaland is 26 and ‘only’ 139 Premier League goals behind Alan Shearer.
However, if/when the Manchester City appeal fails against the 114 guilty verdicts, they would almost certainly be relegated as one of the punishments. If that did become reality then it is difficult to see Erling Haaland staying at the Etihad, so then the question would be whether the Norwegian international would end up joining another Premier League club or move overseas? I think Man City will be relegated AND Erling Haaland end up at somewhere like Real Madrid next season.
