Former Newcastle United star Rob Lee has taken on a Director of Football role.
The ex United midfielder has joined Hornchurch.
Having been promoted to the National League, the club appointing Rob Lee as their new director of football.
The former England midfielder began his career at the London club, who have now been promoted to the National League last month after winning the National League South play-offs.
Rob Lee was arguably Kevin Keegan’s greatest signing of all.
King Kev persuading the then Charlton player in 1992 to join second tier Newcastle United rather than top tier Middlesbrough, famously telling Rob Lee that Newcastle was closer to London than Middlesbrough.
The rest is history, Rob Lee all the way through was a key part of the Kevin Keegan era and of course went all the way through to also play under Sir Bobby Robson.
The Hornchurch CEO Mark Hammond has now declared about the club’s new Director of Football: “Rob brings with him a wealth of experience, knowledge, professionalism and a deep understanding of the game at both the professional and elite levels.
