The media in Spain are now giving widespread coverage of Barcelona looking to sign Anthony Gordon this summer.

The former Everton winger currently Newcastle United’s top scorer this season with 17 goals in all competitions.

Over in Spain, Sport have published images of Barca’s Sporting Director Deco meeting with Anthony Gordon’s agents (Unique Sports Agency representatives Will Salthouse and Adam Dugdale) in Barcelona.

The Catalan club said to have been impressed by Anthony Gordon when the two clubs have met in the Champions League this season.

Barcelona are looking to bring in attacking options this summer, having declined the opportunity to turn Marcus Rashford’s loan into a permanent transfer.

Robert Lewandowski is also expected to leave this summer, he turns 38 in August. There is a possibility of the striking legend staying on, but if he does, Barcelona accept that he won’t be able to contribute as many minutes on the pitch as previously was the case.

There is also a lot of speculation that Raphinha could be leaving this summer for Saudi Arabia in a hugely lucrative deal.

Director of Football Deco sees the Newcastle United attacking player very similar to the Brazilian, Gordon with an intense pressing style and pace to run in behind. The fact that Anthony Gordon has also shown he can play through the middle as well as on the wings, makes him an even more attractive proposition.

Barcelona’s finances still aren’t great though and competition exists from a number of clubs. Bayern Munich amongst the clubs that are also trying to sign Anthony Gordon and the Bundesliga champions recently had their own much publicised meeting with Gordon’s representatives.
