The pair of them would later work together at the likes of both Manchester City (see image at the top) and England.
Now Derek Fazackerley has been assessing the challenge facing Matthias Jaissle at Newcastle United.
Derek Fazackerley speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast: “With the players Newcastle United had lost in the summer, I thought it was going to be a tough year for them anyway, no doubt about that. A new manager coming in from abroad who hadn’t experienced the Premier League.”
Set to turn 75 in 11 days time, Derek Fazackerley going on to say: “If Newcastle United can establish themselves in the middle of the table this year, which might not be good enough for the Newcastle fans, but it would certainly be a respectable position for the club.”
Kevin Keegan’s main man adding: “It is a very, very difficult job for Matthias Jaissle, but if he can sustain them in and around the middle of the table with maybe an outside chance of pushing for one of the European places, then it would be a fantastic achievement.”
