Thomas Tuchel has been talking about Lewis Hall.
This follows the 3-2 defeat for England against Spain on Saturday night.
Lewis Hall remained on the bench throughout the match at Wembley.
This despite numerous cases of poor defending gifting Spain the victory, undermining England’s own impressive attacking play.
Nico O’Reilly amongst those guilty of huge errors at the back, especially when he gifted Spain the chance to pull it back to 2-2 . This after England had fought so hard to come back from conceding an early goal to lead 2-1.
The England boss explaining why Lewis Hall hadn’t been involved.
Thomas Tuchel: “Lewis Hall missed some training sessions with a bit of an injury scare, so that is why I was a bit hesitant to put him out there today, but he is an option. He trained well at the end of the week but he was out of training at the beginning of the week, so we just didn’t want to take any risk because there was a lot of high speed running and defending to do.”
In this international break there are four matches for England to play in the space of a week and a half.
So hopefully the Newcastle United star will get some decent opportunities in the remaining three matches before returning to club duty.
For Thomas Tuchel and his players it is the Czech Republic v England on Tuesday 29 September, with a 7.45pm kick-off. Followed by Croatia v England at 5pm on Saturday 3 October. Finally, it is England v Czech Republic at 7.45pm on Tuesday 6 October.
Tuchel Tuchel: “Lewis is always in our discussions at the left-back position, he is the one who actually plays left-back for his club, Myles [Lewis-Skelly] and Nico [O’Reilly] play many times in central midfield.”
