Brighton pundit and former player Warren Aspinall had plenty to say ahead of the Newcastle United match on Saturday.
The Seagulls were the Premier League form team with six wins and a draw, just one defeat, in their last eight matches.
The Magpies having lost their last four Premier League matches, the last five in all competitions.
Warren Aspinall full of it before the match: “Brighton need to put the foot down on the accelerator from the word ‘go’, with high intensity football like we did in the Chelsea game. This crowd will turn on Newcastle. I’m sure some of these [Newcastle United] players will go into their shell and not many of them go into the trenches when the going gets tough so, I’m hoping we get after them, get an early goal and the crowd will turn on them.”
It is always interesting when somebody sets themself up like this. Especially when it goes very wrong…for them.
Warren Aspinall slagging off the Newcastle United players and fans alike before the match.
Of course, things didn’t quite work out like that…
The Newcastle United players stood up to the challenge and showed so much character, whilst the fans stayed with the team, despite living on our nerves at times.
Warren Aspinall still making his mouth go after the Brighton defeat.
The former Brighton player crying on and trying to find a new Newcastle United target to deflect from his loudmouth remarks pre-match and the defeat for his beloved Seagulls.
Warren Aspinall targeting Jason Tindall for his celebrations as United made it 3-1: “When they scored their third goal, which I don’t like, Tindall giving it that to him [Fabian Hurzeler], trying to wind him up. To be fair to Fabian, he didn’t. He just had a little conversation with him. Right at the end of the game, Fabian went into his ear and said something and I think ‘Great, Fabian’ because I know Tindall and he is a wind-up merchant.”
As opposed to Aspinall and his post-match histrionics, Fabian Hurzeler himself taking a more mature approach when asked about Jason Tindall and his goal celebrations: “It is just an emotional game and some things beside the pitch shouldn’t happen.”
The Brighton boss also going on to say: “I showed a lot of respect for Eddie Howe because I think he is doing a great job here and for such a long time. Huge respect for him and what he is doing.”
