Could this be the greatest ever display from Wor Flags ahead of the Newcastle United v Liverpool match, as we all honour Kevin Keegan?
Every seat, every fan, inside St James’ Park will be part of this pre-match.
The Liverpool fans as keen as the Newcastle United fans to honour one of their greats.
The departure of Mike Ashley meant the return of Wor Flags to matches, as they ended their boycott almost five years ago now. The pre-match flag displays once again becoming part of the matchday routine, starting with the first post-takeover match against Spurs at St James’ Park in October 2021.
Then ahead of the first home match of the 2022/23 season, Wor Flags invited all fans to consider helping them with future flag displays by setting up a regular monthly donation to assist in funding them.
In recent years we have seen some spectacular displays put on by Wor Flags but could today top them all?
I can’t wait to find out.
Kevin Keegan is the greatest for me, certainly in my lifetime supporting Newcastle United, we all owe him so much.
Wor Flags have in recent weeks informed Newcastle United fans about this next St James’ Park display, giving us a hint of what we can expect.
An incredible amount of thought and work goes into these displays from the key Wor Flags people and their helpers.
On the eve of this Kevin Keegan display, Wor Flags announcing via their social media:
‘Final preparations underway for tomorrow’s Kevin Keegan display! Our incredible volunteers have been hard at work getting the pulley flag ready for St James’ Park. Hours of graft go into every display to make sure it’s perfect for matchday.”
That followed this Wor Flags message earlier in the build up:
“Preparation has begun ahead of our display on Sunday. Every single seat in the ground will be involved, so please raise the card on your seat when instructed by the PA announcer. We’re delighted to include the away end as part of the display and we’d like to thank @SpionKop1906 for their support.”
This short video gives a glimpse of the work involved and features two of the main people from Wor Flags speaking ahead of the match and the planned Kevin Keegan tributes:
A chance to pay tribute to an icon. 🖤🤍

Liverpool football club and their fans are also fully backing today’s Kevin Keegan tributes and this short video they have released is absolutely brilliant, Phil Thompson speaking about his former teammate:
A special fixture awaits on Sunday as both sides pay their respects to the legendary Kevin Keegan ❤️ pic.twitter.com/bM1QtFmoQn

This will be class. I can’t imagine how much work will have to go into this from the volunteers who plan and put the displays in place, plus of course then tidy them away afterwards.
The least the rest of us can do is help to finance it, if able to.
So if you are in a position to do so, please consider making a donation to Wor Flags to help support the special Kevin Keegan display at the Liverpool match, plus of course showing your support for all of their displays.

Larger custom design one and two poler waver flags
Large text banners featuring messages of support
Foils, surfers and custom tifos’
On behalf of everybody who visits The Mag, we signed up in summer 2022 to make a modest regular monthly donation to help fund Wor Flags and that is ongoing.
