Danny Murphy has been talking about the positions Liverpool desperately need to strengthen.

A top priority for him is left-back, where he thinks Arne Slot has wasted a large chunk of cash on Milos Kerkez, who he thinks is no better than a squad player: “Although Kerkez is a trier and he has improved, is he at the level Liverpool need to win league titles and Champions League? My feeling is that he’s not. He’s probably an understudy; he’s probably a backup.”

Danny Murphy knows the player who would be ideal for his old club.

The former Liverpool and England midfielder looking towards St James’ Park and fantasising about lifelong United fan Lewis Hall.

Danny Murphy saying about the Newcastle United and England left-back: “I’m a huge fan of Lewis Hall. I think he’s a wonderful player, a brilliant footballer, and when it comes to one-on-one defending, he’s very, very good.”

Lewis Hall is indeed a class act and aged only 21, hopefully at the club he supports for many years to come.

Danny Murphy admitting his fantasy is very unlikely to be fulfilled: “It’s probably unlikely you’re gonna get him out because it it looks like Tonali might go and Gordon might go, but if Newcastle do have to sell and you can pinch him, even if you have to pay a bit more for him, he’s still a young man, he’s got the Premier League experience, and I think he’s been one of Newcastle’s shining lights this season.”

My personal feeling is that Anthony Gordon is going to be sold this summer but Newcastle United will keep all of their other best players, including/especially Lewis Hall.

Danny Murphy going on to add: “There’s a lot of great left backs out there not worth mentioning because I don’t think you’d tear them away from PSG Bayern Munich, and they’re at some of the biggest clubs in the world, and you’d like to be able to grab them and take them, but I’m not sure.”
