Very sad news on Monday that Kevin Keegan has passed away.
The tributes pouring in from all across the football family.

Newcastle United’s Chief Executive Officer, David Hopkinson, has paid tribute to Kevin Keegan upon the sad news of his passing.
Today is an incredibly sad day in the history of Newcastle United.
Kevin Keegan was far more than a legendary player and manager. He was a symbol of hope and belief, and a man whose connection with this football club and the North East was genuine, profound and enduring.
For generations of supporters, Kevin was the beating heart of Newcastle United. He helped to shape what this club means, not only in Newcastle, but around the world. His impact will be felt for generations to come.
On behalf of everyone at Newcastle United, I would like to express my deepest condolences to Kevin’s wife Jean, his family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him, including many who continue to work for the club today.
We know supporters will want to pay their own respects to Kevin in the coming days. We will immediately prepare an area at the South West corner of St. James’ Park where floral tributes can be laid and where fans can come together to remember one of the greatest figures in our club’s history.
During this period of mourning for our football club and our city, flags at St. James’ Park will fly at half-mast and our players across all teams will observe a minute’s silence before their next training sessions as we remember Kevin together.

As we reflect on Kevin’s passing, we will also carefully consider how best to honour his remarkable life and legacy both in the short and long term.
Today, however, we simply mourn the loss of a true giant of our history, and our thoughts are with everyone who loved him.
