Callum Wilson is set to sign on for yet another Premier League club.
The former Newcastle United striker having left St James’ Park after five seasons last summer (2025) and moving to West Ham United as a free agent when his NUFC deal ended.
Now BBC Sport report that a move of around 12 miles across the capital is set to be announced, with Callum Wilson to join Brentford.
The report saying that Brentford are set to sign Callum Wilson on an initial 12-month contract.
BBC Sport stating: ‘The 34-year-old forward, who left West Ham at the end of last season, is in advanced talks with the west London club, with the deal expected to be completed this week. Wilson is a free agent following his departure from the London Stadium after the club’s relegation from the Premier League.’
The report adding that Callum Wilson: ‘Would provide competition for Brazil international Igor Thiago, who is not for sale at any price despite reports this summer suggesting offers of £80m or £90m could tempt Brentford. His arrival would allow Belgian striker Kaye Furo, 19, to move out on loan next season. Wilson had also been linked with a return to his boyhood club Coventry City, who are returning to the top flight for the first time in 25 years after winning the Championship last season.’
Having moved from Tyneside, Callum Wilson scored seven goals for West Ham in 32 Premier League appearances.
Since leaving Newcastle United it has been an interesting year for the now 34-year-old striker.
Callum Wilson said this on 2 August 2025 when he signed for West Ham: “I’m excited to be joining a massive Football Club like West Ham. A Club that shares a similar passion to mine, hard work, dedication and also I strive for success so I’m glad to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to the challenge. There’s such talent within the squad. And obviously the gaffer [Graham Potter] has come in now, he’s making everybody a team – all working in the same direction to achieve the goal which is to be finishing as high as possible in the league and it’s what the fans deserve, what the team deserve and it’s what the squad quality deserves too.”
Back on 2 August 2025 West Ham manager Graham Potter declared: “We are pleased to welcome Callum to West Ham United. He is a proven, experienced Premier League striker, with a great work ethic and a fantastic goalscoring record. We have built a really good spirit and environment around the squad, and Callum will only strengthen and enhance that. He will be a good influence, especially on our young attacking players, and brings leadership qualities. I know that Callum is determined to make a really positive contribution to West Ham United…”
Just six weeks after Callum Wilson signing, West Ham sacked Graham Potter and replaced him with Nuno.
Not yet a year later and Graham Potter has just managed Sweden at the World Cup finals and Callum Wilson is set to stay in the Premier League with Brentford, whilst West Ham are preparing for the 2026/27 Championship season without him.
