Three and a half weeks until this new Newcastle United season kicks off.
One thing hasn’t changed for sure.

The demand for tickets from Newcastle United fans.
Whatever is said amongst the fanbase about what is (and isn’t…) happening at the club, the level of support is astonishing.
When the ballot was drawn this morning for the Liverpool match, I didn’t get a ticket and nor did any of the other Newcastle United members I know. Of course this is going to be a very special match but I think whichever team we were playing first at home and even if Kevin Keegan hadn’t sadly passed away, the demand for tickets would have been very similar.
All of the Newcastle United members I know (and I know plenty) have renewed their membership for this new 2026/27 season and from what I hear from them, they will all be applying for tickets for every home match.
This simply continues on from last season, no matter how many home matches we had in quick succession, no matter how the results were going, every ballot was hugely oversubscribed and every queue sale was a ridiculous length with so many missing out each time. The only partial exception was when for some unknown reason, the club delayed releasing some tickets very late on for the home leg against Qarabag AFTER Newcastle United had won 6-1 in the away leg! Some empty seats at that total one-off.
So business as usual this season, Newcastle United fans desperate to get tickets for St James’ Park. I look forward to the struggle every home match!
It isn’t just of course at home.
Tonight, all 3,407 tickets in the away end have been sold. Wednesday night down at Bristol City for a friendly and all the tickets available snapped up. Incredible. There will be a load of local NUFC fans also in the home areas tonight, a rare chance to get to see the team as non-season ticket holders and mostly not members either.
The away end over in Valencia is also sold out, all 2,000 tickets snapped up by Newcastle United fans.
This time last year there were over 10,000 official Newcastle United fans at the Celtic away friendly, maybe as many as 13,000 in total as I knew countless NUFC supporters who were in the home sections.
I have seen plenty of comments from Bristol City fans (Ashton Gate pictured at the top of this article), who simply can’t believe the travelling support tonight for a friendly. Sounds like they are expecting a crowd of around 20,000 in total.
It is a curse and a blessing of course.
Absolutely brilliant the support that our football club has BUT it makes it so difficult to get tickets!
