Newcastle United could relegate West Ham United

Not the best of weekends for West Ham United and their supporters.

An action packed Premier League weekend when it comes to the Premier League relegation battle.

Friday saw Leeds 3 Burnley 1.

Saturday the Premier League results were Brentford 3 West Ham 0, Newcastle 3 Brighton 1, Wolves 1 Sunderland 1, Arsenal 3 Fulham 0.

On Sunday we saw, Bournemouth 3 Palace 0, Man U 3 Liverpool 2, Villa 1 Tottenham 2.

Then on Monday, Chelsea 1 Forest 3 (Everton v Man City at 8pm on Monday night).

As I say, not the best of weekends for West Ham United and their fans.

The Hammers….trounced, whilst the other four teams (Leeds, Tottenham, Newcastle United, Forest) who also came into to the weekend in 14th to 18th spots, they all won.

This is now the Premier League table after the Forest win at Chelsea on 4 May 2026

I think the relegation battle quite clearly is now between Tottenham and West Ham United.

This is the order in which they now play their remaining matches:

West Ham v Arsenal (Sunday 10 May 4.30pm)
Tottenham v Leeds (Monday 11 May 8pm)
Newcastle United v West Ham (Sunday 17 May 5.30pm)
Chelsea v Tottenham (Tuesday 19 May 8.15pm)
Tottenham v Everton (Sunday 24 May 4pm)
West Ham v Leeds (Sunday 24 May 4pm)

What this all means now…

If West Ham lose at home to Arsenal AND Tottenham win at home to Leeds.

Then (both of those results now very likely I believe), it would then mean that if Newcastle United won at home to West Ham United, then NUFC would be the ones who relegated the Hammers…
