News now that Manchester United are set to sign former Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
The Athletic reporting that Man U are close to completing a deal.
Karl Darlow is a free agent after his contract at Leeds United ended on 30 June 2026.
The Athletic state: ‘There are still finer points to sort but Man U are in advanced stages of bringing Karl Darlow to the club. Senne Lammens needs support this coming season, with Altay Bayindir expected to leave.’
One of many disastrous Manchester United signings, £50m keeper Andre Onana still has two years left of his five year Man U contract remaining and is spending another season on loan at Trabzonspor.
Daniel Farke made Karl Darlow his first choice goalkeeper for the second half of the 2025/26 season, with summer 2025 signing Lucas Perri dropped.
Karl Darlow started every Leeds match from mid-January to the end of the season and they only lost four games in that 17-match run. Perri was dropped after Leeds lost 4-3 at St James’ Park and Darlow then took over.
The Athletic state: ‘Karl Darlow has made 38 appearances for Leeds since joining the club from Newcastle United in 2023 on a three-year deal. He made 111 appearances for Nottingham Forest in his early career and spent nine years at Newcastle, where he appeared 100 times, before joining Leeds.’
Karl Darlow was sold by Newcastle United to Leeds United for a reported fee of around £0.5m and has recently became a regular for Wales, making his debut for them in September 2024, just weeks before he turned 34.
