The 48 national teams had to register a squad of up to 26 players, including three goalkeepers, by Tuesday 2 June 2026.

Only players named in these squads will be eligible to take part.

Although they can be replaced by a player from the provisional squad in the event of a serious injury or illness, no later than 24 hours before their team’s first match at the World Cup.

Before you look below, can you name all of these 17 Newcastle United players, 10 former NUFC ones, plus seven current? Top of the class if you can!!!

As well as the players, there is one manager at the World Cup who is ex Newcastle United. Steve Clarke is now the Scotland boss and he was assistant to Ruud Gullit at NUFC, then caretaker manager for one game (lost 5-1 to Man U) when Gullit resigned.
