The Newcastle United players completed their opening pre-match friendly on Saturday.

A 3-0 win over Darlington behind closed doors at the KNOX United training ground.

There were 22 Newcastle United players involved in total, as Eddie Howe played two completely different elevens in each half.

Newcastle United (first half): Nick Pope, Leo Shahar, Alex Murphy, Sven Botman, Lewis Hall, Jacob Ramsey, Joe Willock, Sean Steur, Jacob Murphy, William Osula, Harvey Barnes

Newcastle United (second half): Ewen Jaouen, Mason Miley, Miodrag Pivaš, Luke Craggs, Dylan Charlton, Rory Finneran, Anthony Munda, Sean Neave, Trevan Sanusi, Park Seung-soo, Vakhtang Salia

Joe Willock and Will Osula both scored in the first half, Sean Neave after the break.

As you can see, the second half eleven was almost entirely made up of Under 21 players.

So what about the Newcastle United players who were unavailable on Saturday?

Fabian Schar, Lewis Miley and Tino Livramento are coming back from injury and weren’t involved, neither was Joelinton for whatever reason.

Completing the entire team of Newcastle United players who weren’t able to be involved, you also have Bazoumana Toure, Dan Burn, Bruno, Yoane Wissa, Nick Woltemade, Malick Thiaw and Anthony Elanga. All of these seven given extra time off due to their World Cup involvement.

Five weeks today we see Newcastle United take on Liverpool in their opening Premier League match. A very busy period of time as we see who is available for when the season kicks off, especially with more transfer activity inevitable, in and out…
