My conclusions and predictions on Saturday’s matches
Bournemouth v Liverpool (2pm)
Bournemouth have been finding a way not to win this season. Leading away at Man City in their opening Premier League game until the 84th minute and yet somehow losing 2-1.
The Cherries then drawing their next three league matches despite leading in all three. They had a morale boosting 2-1 away win in the Europa League at Real Sociedad and now they have found that winning thread I fancy them to follow that up with another victory today.
Liverpool have looked poor this season and their only league win against Ipswich. They were lucky to get a goalless draw at home to Fulham in their latest EPL match and a date today will see them heading into the international break in the bottom half of the table.
Leeds v Palace (2pm)
Leeds have now lost only one of their last 13 Premier League games and we saw on Monday how dangerous they can be. Leeds are a big and physical side and with all Newcastle’s injury problems it was a tough night for NUFC.
Palace have conceded 11 goals in their four EPL matches and have lost three of them, the only win a 3-2 at Fulham.
Difficult to see Leeds losing and looking at Palace’s games so far with 17 goals in total in the four games, unlikely to be goalless. Palace can be very unpredictable and I have a sneaking feeling maybe they will get a high scoring draw here, maybe 2-2.
Man City v Sunderland (2pm)
Man City are top of the table (on goal difference) after Arsenal got hammered and I see next to zero chance of that changing.
Sunderland have only scored three goals so far in the league and their only win so far came in a very poor game against Fulham, the Mackems scoring the only goal of the game late on.
I think Man City will win comfortably and if scoring early and forced a negative Sunderland team to try and come out, then it could be a heavy defeat for the visitors.
Fulham v Man U (4.30pm)
Fulham look like they are maybe now coming to terms with playing under a new manager and after drawing at Anfield they won away at West Ham in midweek in the League Cup.
This could be great timing for them as they come into a bit of form and confidence, up against a struggling Man U team and a manager in Michael Carrick who is already living on borrowed time.
I think Fulham are getting a point at least and if anybody is to win then I think it will be them.
As an aside, if Fulham avoid defeat it means Sandro Tonali and Spurs will head into the international break rock bottom of the Premier League.
