The Spain World Cup squad has been named and not a single Real Madrid player included.
The first time ever this has happened.
Luis de la Fuenta naming seven Barcelona players amongst his 26 choices but none at all from their big rivals Real Madrid.
The Spain Head Coach declaring: “We are very relaxed. Barring any setbacks, we will have everyone available from the very first match.”
Of those who could have potentially made the Spain World Cup squad, Real Madrid defenders Dean Huijsen and Dani Carvajal were not included.
Spain are favourites to win the 2026 World Cup and their Group H matches are against Cape Verde on 15 June, Saudi Arabia on 21 June and Uruguay on 26 June.
Former Newcastle United star Mikel Merino is one of seven Premier League players named in the Spain World Cup squad, along with David Raya, Martin Zubimendi, Pedro Porro, Marc Cucurella, Rodri and Yeremy Pino.
