Now reported in Germany that Borussia Dortmund are competing to sign Nick Woltemade before the end of the transfer window.
Bild state that the Bundesliga club are now desperate to bring in another attacking option and that the Newcastle United striker is a target.
This comes after Borussia Dortmund confirmed that Giannis Konstantelias has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The summer signing had an eventful Bundesliga debut, on Saturday the Greece international scored against Hamburg before forced off with a serious injury that will be long-term.
Nick Woltemade isn’t a like for like replacement but he would give Borussia Dortmund another attacking option.
Dortmund were linked with a move for Nick Woltemade back in April 2026, following the appointment of Ole Book as the club’s sporting director. Book previously signed Woltemade for Elversberg on loan from Werder Bremen for the 2022/23 season.
The German media report that Borussia Dortmund would only be able to stretch to a loan deal if they can sign Nick Wotltemade.
This follows Keith Downie of Sky Sports reporting on Saturday that “Multiple Italian clubs” are also interested in taking Nick Woltemade on loan for the season, with Napoli said to be leading the chase.
Both Borussia Dortmund and Napoli could offer Nick Woltemade the chance of Champions League football this season, if the Germany international and Newcastle United were interested in such a move.
Downie reported that Newcastle United would though also be happy to keep Nick Woltemade for the season ahead and if he did go on loan, the Sky Sports reporter saying that only a “chunky loan fee” could potentially see a deal happen.
You can only imagine Newcastle United allowing Nick Woltemade before the transfer window closes tomorrow, whether on loan or permanently, if they had another attacking option lined up to come in.
Sunday brought claims from French media that Newcastle United has raised their offer for Matias Fernandez-Pardo and were close now to agreeing a deal with the Ligue 1 club. The Belgium international wanting to leave and the Lille President insisting he stays until they have a replacement lined up.
This morning has brought an update with reports that Feyenoord have agreed to sell striker Ayase Ueda to Lille for around £14m and that a medical is scheduled. This deal potentially set to trigger the departure of Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
