Intriguing reading these comments from Spurs fans following the defeat to Newcastle United in North London.

The match ending 2-1 to United, Thiaw and Ramsey with the NUFC goals.

The big puzzle though, was how on earth Spurs fans saw their team only lose by one goal.

Newcastle United totally dominant but unable to get the number of goals the performance deserved.

Thomas Frank sacked within hours of the defeat, Spurs fans with plenty to say about both him and their team, as well as Newcastle United.

Spurs fans commenting via their top supporters forum:

‘Painful watch.

We really are well and truly in a relegation battle.

That first half Newcastle battered us, how many corners did they win? We couldn’t even get up the pitch without making it look hard work.

The second half wasn’t any better, just holding on for most of it.

It was good that we got back into it with our FIRST corner of the game at home but the part that really worried me was how Newcastle just absolutely went for it straight after and scored. It’s such a sign of weakness on our behalf.’

‘It can get even worse than this with an inexperienced interim. I remember Stellini and the 5 goals in 20 minutes at Newcastle.’

‘Thomas Frank has said after the match that he is convinced he will still be in charge when we play Woolwich…

When I was a kid my Dad told me that he used to go out with Wonder Woman until he met my mum.

Not knowing he was drunk and messing around, I told a kid at school and he didn’t believe me so we ended up having a fight over it!

Bless him!’

‘Gallagher stubs his toe, turns the ball over, they go straight back and score with a wonderful finish by some c..t we’ve been wanting to sign for years.’

‘Just got in from the game.

I got home late because the lads spent time in the bar doing an autopsy on the fallout – the final insult. Instead of playing like a home side we failed to take the game to Toon .

The warning signs were there early in the game where Toon had a goal ruled out for offside . But they didn’t let their heads drop they just got back on with the game.

We sort of woke up for a spell then carried on playing s..t . Then Toon scored about 5mins later and this one stood. Vicario parried the ball back into the danger area and they poached a goal . I don’t think we had a shot on target in the first half.

The supporters booed them off at half time – I never boo but I fully understand those that did . Half time 0-1 down . Second half and we looked interested for once, it was end to end stuff for about 10 mins when we scored to level it up . Again Toon didn’t let their heads drop and within 5 minutes they restored the lead .’

‘That first half was a new low. Non stop pressure and corners for Newcastle. I reckon Dan Burn spent more time in our box than his own.’

‘Newcastle had only won once away from home this season and that was Burnley . They were low on confidence yet they dominated us from the first minute , barring a 10 minute spell in 2nd half they could have played with cigars in their mouths . We are that team that everyone wants to play when they need a confidence boost but more alarming is that they’d rather play us at our stadium than theirs .’

‘Was working so couldn’t go. Couldn’t give the ticket away either.

Checked the score very quickly at 10:30pm last night. Felt nothing. Just don’t really care.

Maybe it will be fun again in the Championship.’

‘We were at home and Newcastle knew we were there for the taking.’

‘What a rubbish performance. There are absolutely no positives. Only moment i laughed was when we scored from our first corner – compared to Newcastle 13 corners or something. Proper comedy.’

‘Well, what a legacy Thomas left….

Now it’s done, and the book is closed on him, Frank is Officially our worst EVER manager!

Christian Gross & Jaques Santini can rest easy again…’

‘Genuinely think this was the worst performance I’ve seen from us because we didn’t even try to do anything, we didn’t even try to play out or progress the ball, just constant hoofing up the pitch, when we went forward we didn’t commit numbers, loads of players just sitting back behind the ball and not taking any risks, so pathetic.’

‘I’m desperate to see the back of a load of our playing staff now that the manager has rightly been moved on.’

‘I honestly don’t think that we go down provided we get the right people in as Interim’s

Arry and Robbie?’

‘It won’t be fun in the championship. We aren’t prepared for it.

Our soft as sh..e “players” aren’t going to be able for a game of goofball at the hawthorns or having to go to Bolton or wherever. Could take years to get out of it.’

‘We’re rubbish, but you see this said about teams all the time when the manager is awful.

Another manager could definitely be getting more out of this group of players than Frank is managing right now.’

‘I just don’t see that.

Newcastle were bringing on Tonali off the bench who walks into our team and plays every game. Same with Woltemade who I don’t even rate.

What did we have on the bench tonight?

Muani and Tel wouldn’t even get a game for Wolves.

Newcastle had far more quality and firepower in their squad tonight. Fact. If we had everyone fit I think we have more quality.

If I’m looking at the two clubs both in s..t form and betting on a result tonight looking at the squads I’m going Newcastle all day long.’

‘Back from the game / that first half was something else , didn’t realise we were playing prime Barcelona . The players though were a disgrace , jogging around , no fight , no intensity and no idea what to do with the ball . Newcastle with 1 win in 8 will not have a more comfortable game this season , it’s almost like they were embarrassed that we scored against them so had to go up and score another themselves.’
