Interesting to read through these BBC Sport ‘neutrals’ comments, following on from Newcastle United defeating Tottenham.

A first competitive NUFC away match for Matthias Jaissle bringing three points.

Early days but a sweet look to the Premier League table with United riding high and…Tottenham rock bottom.

Always good to hear the neutral perspectives.

This one is no different, an interesting start to the season and first away trip of the campaign, Saturday becoming the 14th Newcastle United Premier League away victory at Tottenham.

The BBC Sport readers comments from neutrals….

‘Well done Newcastle, all the neutrals wanted you to win.’

‘You got that right.’

‘No we didn’t.’

‘Seagull fancier.’

‘Sorry, he meant neutrals who weren’t SMBs!’

‘He said “neutrals” not Mackems, mate. A necessary difference.’

‘Must admit watching the match I thought they were unbearably uninformed on the rules of the game. They seemed to think every time Newcastle won the ball it was a foul. The goals should have been disallowed and they should have had at least 3 penalties.’

‘I wanted you both to lose.’

‘If you wanted Newcastle to win you’re not neutral.’

‘Please take time to think before posting. You can be neutral (ie no affiliation) yet still want a particular team to win. I can’t wait until the schools are back.’

‘Can they reach the heady heights of 17th by the end of the season?’

‘Fernandes hell bent on making it a hat-trick, getting 3 different teams relegated. Yet his value keeps multiplying for some reason ‘

‘Very happy with this result, well done Newcastle. From a Villa fan.’

‘Spurs will be playing West Ham in The Championship next season.

Well played Newcastle.’

‘Oh Jaissle, I can boogie

When my strikers are on song.’

‘I heard from many that Spurs were going to be serious contenders this season…completely ignoring the fact that they had finished 17th the previous two seasons? I wonder if reality is starting to set in yet?’

‘Yes, serious contenders…. for relegation of course!’

‘Superb stuff Newcastle, totally deserved. As for De Zerbi, 363m spent , 8 players in, PL, Played 2, Conceded 5, Scored 0, 0 points. Never Change Spurs.’

‘I thought De Zerbi might struggle to get so many new faces to play the Spurs way but they’ve hit the ground running.’

‘Lewis Hall was fantastic, worth the entrance fee just to watch him defend, think and play. Like a Stuart Pearce but with Lahm’s brain.’

‘Watch the BBC try and sell him to Man U again.’

‘Carragher on Sky said it will take time for the players to gel. What about Newcastle who lost the heart of their midfield? ‘

‘Very happy to see Elanga performing like the player he was here at Forest.

Just hope he has off-days against us.’

‘Well played Newcastle, you wanted the three points more than Spurs. You deserved three points against Liverpool too.

Lucky Spurs! Again they conceded two goals today, it could have been a few more. Same against Brentford as well.’

‘My mate is a Spurs fan. He left the game 20 minutes before it ended. Next week he is planning to leave 20 minutes before it starts….’

‘Not sure there isn’t a single neutral around the country who didn’t enjoy that.’

‘Newcastle were brilliant just as they were against liverpool. They should have won that too. And how they’re playing is why the overrated De Zerbi shouldn’t get excuses made for him. Newcastle lost almost an entire midfield and have a new manager yet he’s already getting more from them than RDZ is spurs despite RDZ spending a fortune. Well done Newcastle.’

‘Good result for Newcastle but you expect them to beat relegation fodder. We’ll see how this team performs when they play away to Premier League quality.’

‘Thank you NUFC from an AVFC fan.’
