Bruno Guimaraes was the best player on the pitch as Newcastle United won the midfield battle, however, Elliot Anderson the stand out player for Nottingham Forest.

United created better and more chances, in the end that cost them two points.

Elliot Anderson scoring a class goal to equalise in the 88th minute.

Not a regular goalscorer, the Geordie midfielder had only scored five goals previously in 116 Premier League appearances.

Harvey Barnes scored with an excellent finish of his own to give Newcastle the lead, after the match he was asked about former teammate Elliot Anderson: “We had a few good years with him here [at Newcastle United] and he played well today and ultimately scored the goal that levelled the game. Nice to see him doing well but not when we’re playing against him.”

The former Leicester winger came off the bench to score, just as he did in the previous match against Brighton.

Harvey Barnes looking at this Forest 1-1 draw overall when speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: “A little bit disappointing. It was a little bit of a back and forth game and then we got the goal to go ahead. We looked comfortable for a bit and looked like we might get another one, created a few [more] chances. It has been the story of the season though, late in games conceding pressure and ultimately conceding goals, and that has cost us today.”

Harvey Barnes then adding: “When we go ahead in games it’s something that we’ve not dealt with well enough. We start to look nervy and lose the confidence to go and get another goal and ultimately just try to defend the lead which we haven’t done well enough. It’s hard to put your finger on exactly why, maybe a bit of fatigue towards the end of games, and then when it happens once or twice the confidence drops. Dropping back is not an instruction [from Eddie Howe], it is just something that seems to creep into our game and it is something we’ve got to stop doing.”
